All New Next Generation 2016 Nissan Titan XD
Nissan has at long last released a second generation vehicle with its full-sized Titan pickup truck. New for 2016, the Titan XD finds its niche between the half-ton Titan (a 2017 model) and the heavy-duty contenders from Ford, GM, and Ram. A super strong chassis bolsters an all-new body and the exceptional 5.0-liter Cummins V-8 turbodiesel. This is the first significant redesign to the Titan pickup since its arrival in 2004. Just little changes to the inside and a slight restyling of the outside have kept the truck from complete stagnation. Titan’s first generation soldiered on unaltered for almost a decade.
Nissan launched the 2016 Titan XD with a major focus on its diesel-fueled Cummins 5.0-liter V8, but customers can also get the truck’s 5.6-liter Endurance V8 powertrain. The gasoline-drinking engine makes 390 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, versus 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque for the Cummins.
The 5.6-liter V8 is exclusively available with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox is capable of downshift rev-matching, which seems more appropriate for a sports car rather than pickup.
Like the diesel-fueled Titan XD, models with the Endurance V8 are available in five trim levels and two- or four-wheel drive.
